I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. -Philippians 4:13 (KJV)For eighteen months, the Lord continued to place signs all around showing us we needed to homeschool. Instead of trusting Him, we ignored those signs and continued to try and figure it out ourselves. That is, until one particular day where during a bizarre series of events, God took one of those signs and slapped us in the head. It was a message we could no longer ignore. The very next day we started our journey as homeschoolers. We’ve been rewarded greatly for answering the call. It’s such a natural feeling to spend our days worshiping God, working and learning together, in a peaceful and loving environment. There are no doubts. There are no worries. Is God asking you to change your family’s lifestyle? What’s He calling you to do?
Have you ever heard someone say they wish they could do something, but go on to list reasons why they can’t? Thirteen years ago, I didn’t think I could homeschool my children. I feared I wasn’t smart enough and worried I lacked the patience needed to teach. A mountain of excuses created a giant obstacle, preventing us from what we knew deep down we should be doing–homeschooling. That’s often the case when God calls us to do something. We make excuses or let things stand between what He wants and what we would prefer. We think it’s easier to try it our way than to ask for help.
